Beef Meatballs

  • 80 g readymade breadcrumbs
  • 500 g beef mince
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 courgette, grated
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp freshly chopped thyme
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 30 g Rama Original
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh oregano
  • 2 x 400g cans chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, beef mince, half of the chopped onions, carrot, courgette, egg, thyme, parmesan, black pepper, until combined. Using wet hands, shape the beef mixture into 4cm balls.

  2. Heat the Rama Original in a large frying pan. Add in the remaining chopped onions and garlic and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes, until onions start to soften. Add the meatballs and cook gently for 4-5 minutes turning regularly until meat starts to brown all over.

  3. Add basil, oregano, chopped tomatoes and tomato puree. Bring to the boil, then simmer gently for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is cooked and sauce starts to thicken.
