(“Competition”)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The promoter is Siqalo Foods Proprietary Limited and The Hardy Boys Proprietary Limited, which is contracted to promote this Competition (collectively “the Promoter”).

Any persons entering or participating in this Competition (“Participant”) accept and agree that by entering this Competition they have had an opportunity to read and consider these Terms and Conditions and that they are bound by these Terms and Conditions.

  1. What is the Prize
    1. A Participant stands a chance of winning a share of R250 000 (two hundred and fifty thousand rand) in Shoprite Checkers gift cards, data bundles and Rama branded merchandise bundles in two phases of the Competition (“Phase One” and “Phase Two”), as follows:
      1. Phase One (Open Verse Challenge):
        1. On Facebook:
          1. 1 (one) of 70 (seventy) Shoprite Checkers gift cards to the value of R250 (two hundred and fifty rand) each; or
          2. 1 (one) of 35 (thirty five) Rama merchandise bundles to the value of R740 (seven hundred and forty rand) each; or 
        2. On TikTok:
          1. 1 (one) of 395 (three hundred and ninety five) data bundles to the value of R100 (one hundred rand) each; or
          2. 1 (one) of 40 (forty) Rama merchandise bundles to the value of R740 (seven hundred and forty rand) each; or
        1. Phase Two (Capturing Moments and Dance Challenges):
          1. On Facebook (Capturing Moments Challenge):
            1. 1 (one) of 107 (one hundred and seven) Shoprite Checkers gift cards to the value of R1000 (one thousand rand) each; or
            2. 1 (one) of 25 (twenty five) Rama merchandise bundles to the value of  R940 (nine hundred and fourty rand) each
            3. 1 (one) of 31 (thirty one) Rama merchandise bundles to the value of  R590 (five hundred and ninety rand) each 
          2. On TikTok (Dance Challenge):
            1. 1 (one) of 50 (fifty) Rama merchandise bundles to the value of  R940 ( nine hundred and fourty) each
  1. (collectively, the “Prizes”). 
    • The Shoprite Checkers gift cards may be used and redeemed at any retail supermarket outlet conducted by Shoprite Checkers (Pty) Ltd, including Shoprite, Shoprite Hyper, Checkers, and Checkers Hyper stores, and are subject to the terms and conditions available at the following link: https://www.termsconditions.co.za/content/dam/ShopriteGroup/Terms/PDFS/Shoprite%20Checkers%20Gift%20Card.pdf
      • The Prize is not transferrable and may not be exchanged for cash or any other items. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the Prize/s with any other prize of comparable commercial value.
  1. Who can participate
    1. Any person in South Africa who is 18 years or older may participate in this Competition.
    2. No director, partner, employee, or agent of or consultant to the Promoter, any person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Promoter or any supplier of goods or services in connection with the Promotion, or the spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members of the aforesaid persons may enter this Competition.
  2. How to Participate
    1. To enter this Competition, Participants must:
      1. Phase One (Open Verse Challenge):O
        1. On Facebook:
          1. Visit the official Rama Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/RamaSouthAfrica; 
          2. Like and follow the official Rama Facebook page; 
          3. Find the Competition video post on the official Rama Facebook page by searching #RamaRemix and watch the video, paying attention to the “just one bite” jingle remix;
          4. In the comment section of the Facebook Competition video post, share at least 2 (two) lines of rhyming lyrics that seamlessly integrate with the “just one bite” jingle remix (lyrics must link to and specifically mention Rama and must be creative and unique); and
          5. Use the campaign hashtag, #RamaRemix, in your comment when sharing the lyrics.
        2. On TikTok:
          1. Visit the official Rama TikTok page at: https://www.tiktok.com/@ramaSouthAfrica;
          2. Follow the official Rama TikTok page; 
          3. Find the Competition video post on TikTok by searching #RamaRemix and watch the video, paying attention to the “just one bite” jingle remix; 
          4. Add your verse/hook to the “just one bite” jingle remix track by using the duet function found on TikTok and duetting @feloletee, @robot_boii_rsa, @boohlesa or @indabakabani’s (each a “Phase One Collaborator”) video – Lyrics used in your video must seamlessly integrate with the “just one bite” jingle remix, must link to and specifically mention Rama and must be creative and unique; 
          5. Use the campaign hashtag, #RamaRemix, when sharing your duets; and 
          6. Tag the official Rama TikTok page and your chosen Phase One Collaborator in your post. 
        3. Phase Two (Capturing Moments and Dance Challenges)
          1. On Facebook (Capturing Moments):
            1. Visit the official Rama Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/RamaSouthAfrica; 
            2. Find the Competition post on the official Rama Facebook page by searching #RamaRemix and watch the video, paying attention to the “just one bite” jingle remix; 
            3. Share a photo or video as a comment  on the Facebook Competition video post  that features heart-warming and joyful family or food moments that bring the lyrics of the original “just one bite” jingle remix to life and that convey happiness and warmth; and
          2. On TikTok (Dance Challenge):
            1. Visit the official Rama TikTok page at: https://www.tiktok.com/@ramaSouthAfrica;
            2. Find the Competition video post by searching for #RamaRemix and watch the video, paying attention to the “just one bite” jingle remix;
            3. Recreate your own unique dance, which must be entertaining and performed creatively, and must capture the essence of joy and celebration;
            4. Post your dance videoon Tik Tok, using the Rama Remix audio and the campaign hashtag, #RamaRemix; 
    2. Participants may enter only once in Phase One and once in Phase Two. Should a participant enter more than once in any Phase (whether on the same social media platform or not), only one entry will be taken into account. 
    3. Entries which are unclear, illegible, contain errors or do not include all the required elements as stated above will be declared invalid.
    4. The Promoter shall not be responsible for any lost, damaged, or delayed entries for any reason whatsoever, and proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt by the Promoter. The Promoter is not liable for any technical failures affecting the participation and/or Prize redemption process of this Competition.
    5. In the event that entry into this Competition is contingent on the Participant entering any website or social media page or application, the Participant hereby acknowledges that any and all costs associated with the required internet connection will not constitute a cost of entering into this Competition and shall be borne solely by the Participant.
    6. Personal Information
    7. By entering this Competition, the Participant consents to the collection, use, storage, disclosure, processing and further processing of his/her personal information (the Participant’s name, ID number, cell phone number, address, personal preferences, and other personal information the Participant provides when entering and participating in this Competition) by the Promoter.
    8. The purposes for processing personal information is to: (i) conduct this Competition; (ii) facilitate the Participant’s participation in the Competition; (iii) communicate with the Participant and send direct marketing communication on Rama and similar products via Facebook, TikTok and/or SMS and (iv) for market and product research.
    9. Should the Participant object to the processing of his/her personal information and/or receipt of direct marketing, the Participant should send an email to consumer.affairs-za@siqalofoods.com.
    10. By posting any content, video, images, or comments on any of the Promoter’s public and/or social media platforms, a Participant consents to and gives the Promoter a world-wide royalty free license to reproduce, modify, adapt and publish such content, images or comments for the purposes of promoting the Promoter’s products and/or services. 
  3. Indemnity
    1. By entering this Competition, the Participant unconditionally and irrevocably indemnifies and holds harmless the Promoter, as well as its holding company, its subsidiaries and any subsidiaries of its holding company, and their successors and assigns, directors, employees, agents or consultants against all and any losses, claims, proceeding, actions, damages, (direct, consequential or otherwise) liability, demands, expenses, legal costs (on an attorney and own client basis) howsoever arising out of, based upon, or in connection with (directly or indirectly) the Participant’s participation in the Competition and the Prize/s.
  4. Duration
    1. Phase One of this Competition runs from 2 October 2023 and closes at 11:59pm on 31 October 2023 (“Phase One Closing Date”). Any Phase One entries received after the Phase One Closing Date will not be considered for Phase One of the Competition. 
    2. Phase Two of this Competition runs from 1 November 2023 and closes at 11:59pm on 30 November 2023 (“Phase Two Closing Date”). Any Phase Two entries received after the Phase Two Closing Date will not be considered for Phase Two of the Competition. 
    3. The Promoter reserves the right to reasonably extend, shorten, suspend the time period of this Competition or terminate the Competition for technical, commercial, and/or operational reasons, or for reasons beyond its control. This Competition, Prize and Terms and Conditions may be reasonably amended by the Promoter, at any time during the Competition. In such event, all Participants waive any rights that they may have/purport to have in terms of this Competition and acknowledge that they shall have no recourse against the Promoter whatsoever.
  5. Results
    1. The provisional winners in respect of each social media platform (Facebook and TikTok) for each Phase of the Competition will be selected within 20 (twenty) business days (being Monday to Friday, and excluding official public holidays) (“Business Days”) after the Phase One Closing Date and Phase Two Closing Date respectively as follows:
      1. Step 1: Judge’s determination
        1. Entries received through each social media platform will be shortlisted by judge’s determination (“Shortlisted Participants”) taking into account the following:
          1. Phase One (Open Verse Challenge):
            1. Facebook:
              1. Seamless integration with the original “just one bite” jingle;
              2. Link (reference) to Rama products;
              3. Alignment with Rama brand image;
              4. Creativity; 
              5. Uniqueness; and
              6. Absence of vulgar language.
            2. TikTok
              1. Seamless integration with the original “just one bite” jingle;
              2. Link (placement and reference) to Rama products or food using Rama products;
              3. Alignment with Rama brand image;
              4. Creativity; 
              5. Uniqueness; and
              6. Absence of vulgar language.
          2. Phase Two (Capturing Moments and Dance Challenges)
            1. Facebook (Capturing Moments Challenge):
              1. Alignment with Rama brand image;
              2. Heartwarming nature and joyfulness of family moments captured;
              3. Tone, mood and feel of the photographs (conveyance of happiness and warmth);
              4. Creativity;
              5. Uniqueness; and
              6. Bringing the lyrics of the original “just one bite” jingle to life.
          3. TikTok (Dance Challenge):
            1. Entertainment value;
            2. Creativity; 
            3. Use of the hashtag #RamaRemix; 
            4. Uniqueness; and
            5. Capturing the essence of joy and celebration.
        2. Step 2: Random Draw
          1. In respect of each social media platform (Facebook and TikTok) for each Phase of the Competition, once the Shortlisted Participants have been chosen, the provisional winners will be selected by a random draw from the Shortlisted Participants. 
          2. The judges’ decision, under clause 7.1.1 above, will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. 
          3. The Participant(s) selected as the provisional winner(s) of the Prize(s) will be notified via direct messenger on the social media platform used to enter this Competition within 5 (five) Business Days of the date on which the provisional winner(s) is determined and will be asked to send a direct message to the Promotor via the official Rama Facebook page and/or the official Rama TikTok page with their full name and cell phone number. In the event that the winner cannot be successfully contacted or fails to respond to the Promoter (via direct message and/or phone) within this time, the Promoter reserves the right to select another Participant in substitution. The names of the winners will be published on the official Rama Facebook page and the official Rama TikTok page. 
          4. The Promotor will require the provisional winners and/or winner/s to:
            1. provide their name, identity number and cell phone number, to enable to Promotor to verify the entry;
            2. sign an acknowledgment of receipt of the Prize, and indemnity; and
            3. where the entry includes the submission of any work eligible for copyright in terms of the Copyright Act No. 98 of 1978, conclude an agreement of assignment whereby any rights which the winner may have in respect of such works are transferred to the Promoter.
            4. Should the provisional winner(s) refuse to comply with this rule for any reason then the provisional winner(s) shall be deemed to have rejected the Prize, and it shall revert to the Promoter.
            5. Any winner may be requested to attend the draw and announcement of the winner, to take part in the Promoter’s publicity campaigns or to allow their names and likenesses to be used by the Promoter for promotional purposes. The winner is, however, entitled to decline such request.
            6. Where a winner consents to take part in the Promoter’s publicity campaigns, they will not be entitled to any remuneration for such participation and all materials arising from such participation will be the sole property of the Promoter.
  6. Disputes
    1. Should any dispute arise in relation to these Terms and Conditions, the Promoter’s decision be final, and no correspondence shall be entered into.
